Question type: Maintenance & Repair

it drove fine, then one day it started overheating. i didnt really let it get hot,
as i stopped and put water in everytime it started to overheat. As i kept
driving i noticed it started knocking very loud. it sounded like a top engine
knock. i tried to get it home, as i did it the motor just stopped. i tried to
crank it over it woud turn but to no avail. i then did all the work mentioned in
my question. i have no idea what else there is.

why did you start with the timing gears and chain, What made you gravitate to that diagnoses, That would not cause over heating or engine knock, sounds like your in for a engine swap
