I'm working on a Mazda CX-7 2008 timing chain. I found 2 pieces that I don't know what they are.

One Found behind the guide of the timing chain. The other was found on the
oil pan.

This belongs to the balance shaft I believe. Found the same thing in mine when dropping my oil pan. I believe this to be the cause of excessive oil consumption, but can not confirm this. Just bought a 2012 Ford Fusion 2.5L because my engine is at the verge of catastrophic engine failure at 110xxx miles. Would have been nice to do a BSD delete when the car had less miles. Thanks Mazda

Could be from the VVT considering thats what the technical service bulletin says the issue was. But we all know that could be BS.

I found the same parts in mine, Mazda thinks it is an oil gallery plug, anyone else know different?

It's the VVT locking pin,the retaining dowel broke and those parts came out.
