I have a 1996 Silverado k1500 5.7 I have rebuilt the engine
and replaced everything from fuel pump to temp switch
and I am at a loss the scan tool will not read when the
engine is running but will read when it's off and switch is
on it runs like crap and won't rev up smooth then
backfires any help would be great

Is it a scan tool that allows computer to be read while running, my do, then again mine is a Snap-on. I just have not had one that did not, or your computer is bad.

The scan tool is an actron but it has read on other vehicles while running and the computer was just replaced
