My 77 olds cutlass I put brand newB&M
transmission in with smallest stall and it's sluggish
at take off no pass gear because if I hook it up
voids tranny warranty sluggish up hills
Can you feel it shift through the gears? Could be starting out in second. Is the engine timing set correctly for the cam you have?
Yes it shift through the gears buddy set timing but without timing light and it has after market distributor
Setting time no by ear is not the best way too do it, it will get you by enough to get it too a shop but that's it, so buy a timing light they getting cheap now, set the base timing and then you will need to check and make sure the distributor is advancing properly. Did you also change the cam?
No I didn't change the cam stock
I also put brand new intake and elderbrock 4 barrel carb on it
Have a mechanic tune it up or buy a timing light.
Okay double check the base timing, if the new distributor has a vacuum line on it disconnect and plug the line, and set it + or - 2 degrees stock setting. Then roadtest and listen closely for any engine ping, if you get a ping back the timing off 2 degrees and recheck for ping, if you don't hear any ping, advance the timing until you do then back of 2 degrees until you don't, this is of course assuming that the distributor has the correct advance curve for your engine, there should have been instructions to that effect in the box on how to set it up. Hope this helps.
Ohh forgot to tell you reconnect the vacuum line to the distributor before roadtest and disconnect it everytime you make a timing adjustment and reconnect when finished.
Ok thanks I will try it. Thanks man
