I JUST GOT MY 1972 ELDORADO W%2F 38K MILES. HEATER FAN BLOW GREAT BUT NO HOT AIR. IS IT LIKELY I NEED A NEW HEATER CORE OR COULD IT BE AS SIMPLE AS REPLACING THE THERMOSTAT

check your coolant level. Enough coolant may not be making it to the heater core, if the core was bad it would be leaking and you would notice that. If the thermostat was bad you would over heat. Check your fluids.

Assuming all else is working correctly - I would suggest checking to make sure a thermostat is installed. If so, make sure is the right temperature rating for that engine. The other check would be to make sure the coolant is circulating thru the heater core. At 24 years old - it may well be clogged.
