Coolant reservoir leak ?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I've been having issues with my coolant leaking and
smoke begins to come out my car and it goes from C to
H. Thursday I took it to my mechanic bc I wanted to drain
the water since it's getting old out. He drained it then put
antifreeze in. Now when I had water in there I had no
issues with leaking or smoke. So I leave the shop to go to
work , 30 minutes later I get to work and 85% of the
antifreeze is gone !! I was forced to put some water in it.
He did notice my cap wasn't locking as it should when he
went to put the cap on the coolant reservoir but how is it
that the antifreeze leaked and not the water ??

You should never run just water in the cooling system. Coolant has both anti-freeze and anti-boil properties, as well as rust inhibitors. Straight water will freeze, boil, and corrode in an engine.
