explosive noise

last night wqe were driving home and suddenly there was a huge explosive
noise accompanied by a yellow flash coming from under the car. The hazard
lights came on automatically. we thought we had blown a tire. Stopped and
checked and all was ok. we could find nothing wrong and drove it home
without incident.

Well I don't know what exactly happen but the yellow flash is excessive fuel in the exhaust and igniting. The only thing I can think of is a flooding issue, or timing. Wouldn't hurt to take it in to have it checked out. Especially if you happen to smell gas.

Exhaust leaks can suck air into the system and provide the oxygen needed for a backfire. The yellow flash under the car tells me that you have an exhaust leak.
