Ask the shop that will do the crankshaft girding. If it is badly damaged they can weld it up to standard size.

If number 2 cylinder is cracked its time for another engine, or they will want to sleeve it just to save money, but that is a temporary repair at best, you could develop engine oil pressure loss after it gets fully warmed up and you will wind up replacing the block anyway. This happened to my uncle on his old Mercedes, spent a bunch of money for repair instead of replacement and then it really cost him, that was the last Mercedes he ever bought.

Is that what a credal bore is?

If you go with a rebuild then find a machine shop that knows Mercedes. If all they do is small block Chevy engines pass.
