Has any one reported expensive valve issues in the cylinder head and intake manifold? Is this a common repair? My car is a 2008 and I am experiencing this costly repair $2,500-$6,000

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

C 300 2008 4 door sedan with 85,000 miles.  I am upset that this kind of repair is happening this farily new car.  I have maintained this car and only had the car repaired at the Mercedes dealerships!  Mercedes Benz says this is a "fluke" and not common with the 2008 C-300.  From talking to various repair shops they seem to say the vavlue issue has been a common occurrance as well as the intake manifold.  If this is the case shouldn't these items be recalled and Mercedes should fix since it seems it would be a defect?

MB's require regular maintenance generally once a year for normal driving. As of 2007 maintenance is done at 20,000 kms intervals or 12,000 miles. What other makes go that far Tom? As for your particular issue it is not common. However balance shaft failure is and that will require about 25 hours labour to repair. The balance shaft will cause a valve timing fault on the right bank of cylinders.
