That is one of 1555 20th Anniversary Trans Am GTA Turbo 3.8 models released only in 89. They were produced as Indy Pace cars for that year and were the only cars that did not have to be modded (up til 89) to pace the Indy race. The engine is actually a 3.8 turbo and intercooled which was barrowed by Pontiac from Buick. The same engine that was in the 86-87 Grand National. The 89 TTA was the fastest Trans Am ever built, even edging out the later LS1s and the mighty 73-74 Super Duty T/As that held that title until 89. They can be found but they are not cheap. Expect to pay from 25-30 for a clean example. Joey

thanks... i remember seeing one on the showroom when dad was buying a 89 Riviera. GTA is one wicked ride! ..it seems like a slim chance to own. :(
