I broke the hood release cable on my 49 Coronet. Any ideas how I can now get the hood open to fix it?

I am answering my own question! Use a large flat bladed screwdriver and wedge it behind the black cone (which isjust behind the secondary latch) on the left side and push it left to right. The hood latch will spring open. Now all I need to do is replace the cable. The inside handle is crimped on the broken wire so I am trying to figure out how to replace the wire without replacing the interior handle.
