car  in rough but salvageable with a little work how much should i pay? needs moderate engine work smokes a bit body needs paint and only surface rust

The Kelley Blue Book doesn't include a '77 Charger online, mike77, but if you go to www.nadaguides.com and enter their Classic Car section, you should be able to get a price range for that car. I got as far as this: http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-22-1-5012-0-0-0&l=1&w=22&p=1&f=5013&m=1052&y=1977&c=11&z=02138&da=-1&vi=69896&d=2467, but you didn't say which engine the one you're looking at has.
