why wont new key from mercedes not turn ignition?

Sounds like the dealer didn't sync the key to the car. Go back to the dealer, have them sync the key to the car and don't leave until they show you it works.

If the ignition lock cylinder has been replaced the original key code won't work. Best to replace the lock cylinder, key, and if applicable have the new key programmed to the vehicle. Hope that helps! Jim
