what do i do if I put gas in my diesel volkswagon?

accidentally put a few gallons of unleaded in my diesel, then put 10 gallons of diesel in, it ran and then stopped.  What should i do at this point its a 2004 golf TDI

Drain the tank, replace the fuel filter. I'd start there. Still doesn't run, mechanic.

Seeing as you can damage things more, I'd recommend just going to a mechanic. You're going to need to drain the tank and replace the fuel filter, but you should also flush out with diesel through the whole system, and make sure there is no gasoline in the lines, injectors, etc before starting again.
