Why does my breaklights stay on? Every month I have replaced the break light switch. It has melted plastic on it, so the last time, I changed all the wiring going to the switch.

Something has to be wrong that I am not finding....simple I hope, but every month or two, the lights will not go off, unless I stick a wedge up into the top of the break where the button is on the break light switch. If I don't do this, it drains the battery. I had to get a new battery last month. Thinking that would work, and now....its doing it again! Argggh!

In front of the plunger (button on sw) there should be rubber plug flat that goes in a hole right in front of the plunger, the sw may be adjustable as well ( depth ) the pedal when in the up position the plunger should not be visible and lights off. Hope that helps

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 4.7 Sport. I recently put in a new/used motor because my old one had a bad crankshaft. So after getting new motor in I started the truck and it ran great.
