04 Buick rondevous cooling

Asked by James Jul 16, 2021 at 03:33 PM about the 2004 Buick Rendezvous

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

3.4 engine on cold start shows immediate radiator circulation so I assume no
thermostat. Am told that coolant is added every couple days with no visible
leaks. Oil shows no signs of coolant. No apparent air bubbling through radiator.
After idle for 5 min temp Guage reads half but fluid in radiator is still very cool
to touch. Is there anything to check on this issue other than head gaskets.

With this motor and the fact that you're losing coolant I'd check your cooling system for exhaust gasses. If exhaust gasses are present a head gasket is blown. If not, flush the cooling system, replace the water pump and thermostat, and bleed the air out of the cooling system. Hope that helps! Jim
