I have a 2000 ford f150 4x4, it has electric
4x4 shift, 4x4 works great till gets hot, then if
your in 2x4 and shift to 4x4 it won’t shift, if
your in 4x4 and switch to 4x2 it won’t shift, it
works good when truck it cold though, thank
you.

No, only on snow/ice mud etc. I’m thinking the dash switch is going out, could that be possible?
