I have a 2000 Ford F150 4.2lL V6. The service engine light came on and at the garage
they said there was a problem with bank 1 and bank 2. What does that mean? What is a
smoke test?

Bank 1 and 2 problems are sometimes vacuum leaks. They may want to run a smoke test to find a vacuum leak. This leak could be at the intake manifold.
