Would anyone be interested in my '78 Diamond Jubilee?

Asked by metalmeister Nov 23, 2015 at 08:32 AM about the 1978 Ford Thunderbird

Question type: General

It is an everyday driver. I put it on jackstands every winter so that it doesn't get touched by the chlorides put on MN roads for snow and ice removal. The vinyl top has some cracks. 351w, FMX transmission and 9" rear end all stock. Stock 2 bbl carb with not so stock full dual exhaust with no catalytic converters and turbo mufflers. I've had it for 10 years or so and would like to make room in the garage for a new toy.

I like these- they were downsized from the huge boats they had become- but they did not improve the handling or the brakes- mine tried to kill me by swapping ends on a curve- I couldn't feel it because the steering was so loose- like all American cars of that era (and before)- my advice: yes, get rid of it- while it's still in one piece-

I had steering issues when my rag joint fell apart at the wrong time. I was traveling about 80 with guard rails on both sides of the road on a mild corner. I didn't lose steering completely, but it was sketchy enough for me to order a rag joint the second I finally got the car home.
