I have a newer 3000lb ultralight travel trailer. I seriously want to purchase a 1969 thunderbird coupe and set it up to haul. I understand the tbird has a 5000lb capacity, but my mechanic friend is saying something about the compression with today's gas likely to destroy the engine? Any input? thanks, Tom

Question type: General

the car has the 429, is generally in decent condition, needs a tuneup and
probably new hoses, belts, etc. If the compression issue is moot, then ooking
for a welded on tow bar, and anything else that might be needed?

If your engine pings on unleaded then use an octane booster. You will need a trailer hookup for the trailer taillights and if your trailer has brakes then you will need a brake controller installed. Make sure the engine cooling system is in good shape. Do the tune up but you know that.
