78 ford f250 400    engine turns over fires stays running as long as key is
engaged in start position   dies when key is let go

Ignition/when you let go of the key/it is like somebody unplugged the iron.your ignition is not keeping the iron plugged in.get a new one

So check the ignition switch down on the steering column. The rod gets bent or the switch just falls apart.
