Carburetor? Does it bog down when giving gas? Will the engine rpm pick up when in park and pedal pushed? How's the condition of the plugs and wires, along with other ignition components.

When in park and I give gas it bogs but then rmps will pick up. Condo of plugs and wires are a year old

With no load on the engine (park and running) the bogging of the engine, then picking up could indicate a carb problem. Check for ignition problems first, they're easiest. Personally, I have had problem with plug wires which are not motorcraft. Check the resistance of each wire with a meter. You can obtain the specs on resistance on the wires from the net. Usually about 5K ohms per foot and fraction thereof. While the meter is out, check the coil.
