Fuel vapor return line, 1972 LT1

Asked by fstway Jul 03, 2008 at 11:25 PM about the 1972 Chevrolet Corvette

Question type: General

Did the 72 LT1 have the fuel vapor return line on the passenger or just the EEC cannister line on the drivers side? I have not been able to find the definative answer on this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

if memory is corect, eec canister line.looks like a coffie can with a hose plugded in.this was befor all the epa restrections.

I have a 72 vette base 350 and have been in search to prevent a heavy fuel oder in the car. I replaced a number of vapor return lines on the fuel tank about 6 years ago and think that helped but now the problem is back and thought that it might be the charcoal canister. As far as I know there is only a can for recirculation of vapor down by the left front kick panel buy the side louvre. The can is filled with activated charcoal and is held in with a fiberis matt and a screen cover. You can buy activated charcoal at a pet store and replace the matt with a heater filter cut to fit. I think an LT 1 should be set up the same way as mine. 3 rubber lines are attached to the top, good luck, Mike B. from NJ
