Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I have a new mechanical fuel pump and
filter I put in my car yesterday, I drove
around town went to a store came back
outside after 30 mins car started with no
problem. So today the car started right up
with no problem 6 mins later it just
completely shut off. When I put the key in
the starter still turns over but the car still
won't crank, I put gas into the carburetor
and it started up fine then shut back off!
Took off the fuel line where the filter is
located on the carb and the line was
blowing fine when I had my friend turn the
key over. What could be wrong with it
because I have no idea?

it could be that the mechanical pump is not working right- the drive in the engine may be worn- replace it with an aftermarket electric pump they are good, and cheap- and easy to install- mount it back by the fuel tank- a few new hoses- you may need to get a blocking plate where the mechanical pump mounts- if you want to remove it completely- problem solved

Auto centric I tapped the float bowl nothing happens am I supposed to tap it while have someone turns the key over? Or is there an alternate way?
