What does it mean when my car will start, but won't drive or reverse, nor park?

Asked by Oct 14, 2016 at 09:51 PM about the 2006 Toyota Camry

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

when I was driving my car stopped accelerating. So I pulled over and my hood
was smoking. Then I tried to put it in park and the car slowed but didn't
completely stop, while started.

Sounds like it's time to open the hood and start checking fluid levels. Engine Oil. Transmission. Coolant. Suggest you take a look at your Owner's Manual. It will describe how to perform these Checks. Any Warning Lights ON or Flashing when the Engine was running? Get back to us with results.
