Thermostat may be getting stuck?

I need help asap i got a 93 silverado and just
replaced water pump, fanclutch, radiator and
thermostat. When i start it up after its been sitting
for a while the truck heats up within 15 minutes of
being drivin and reaches 260 degrees and the
thermostat finally opens afte that the truck runs
fine and stays at a stable temperature. Any
suggestions what it could be?

Take out thermostat, put it in a pot on stove and heat up. Get a thermometer or laser temp reader and watch wat temp it opens. U can even try running it without thermostat in summer and c wat happens
