Chevy 2003 s10 v6 power loss uphill

Asked by Car_Idiot Aug 05, 2019 at 12:33 AM about the 2003 Chevrolet S-10

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My chevy s10 will not hit or go over 3rpm. Once it
hits 3rpm up a hill it will fall straight back down to
0 until you let off the gas. Going up a hill I also lose
about 10 to 15mph. It does perfect on straight
stretches but hills it just won't pull. I have a new
bank 2 sensor 1 (upstream) o2 sensor and I
cleaned the mass air flow sensor. Anything will
help it also has over 204000 miles on it.

How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? What type of transmission do you have, manual or auto? How steep is this hill, have you tried taking the hill in a lower gear? Usually an automatic will downshift on it's own?
