What is going on with my wife's Ford Explorer front tire?

Asked by njguy22 Jan 13, 2015 at 12:09 AM about the 2007 Ford Explorer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My wife has driven the same Ford Explorer for 7 years, and she consistently shows the
same pattern of wear on her front right tire.  Back right tire is similar but not as bad.
What causes this damage that is very apparent?  I ask my wife all the time, and she just
giggles and says she isn't the best at parking b/c she is only 5'2".

That is curb ware, parking to close to curb,if i were your wife,i would giggle to, : ).But then again,if i had to buy them tire,s i would not giggle to much.

Looks like she needs a curb feeler. If she's that short does that mean if your under 6' she may hit U?

well, she just (finally) admitted she hits the curb just about everyday. says she likes to know she is close to the curb.....so she brushes up against it or rides up over it....least she still looks great in a pair of tight jeans....

Does she have a "spare tire" ... for the car I mean?

Curb feelers were the rage in the 50's and 60's. I believe they came standard on most cars. One could hear the scrapping of metal on concrete from a block away. Didn't know they were still made.

Just be thankful cars today do not come with skirts covering most of the rear wheel. They would have been left on the side of the road years ago. And they are expensive if you can find one.
