Question type: Maintenance & Repair

All 4 windows are not operable. Checked fuse under hood and replaced main power switch in driver's side door. After deveral hor sof a technician chekcing he believes it may be a grounding issue. Can anyone tell me where the grounding is for the power swithc? Is in the door, under the hood , or off the battery?

Many thanks,

Grounding wouldn't be my first path to repair, not with all 4 doors inoperative. Sounds more like a fuse or relay. There are power window relays under the hood, above drivers fender in a panel.Tech should have spotted it right away. If you have a voltmeter and a Chiltons manual for the wiring diagram, you just have to start chasing voltage...I'd start with the drivers door panel. Remember to have your ignition switch in ACC before you start...work your way backwards towards the battery (relays, fuses, junctions, etc) until you hit power... tedious and frustrating work.

I had the same problem Turns out a common failure on explorers is the ground wire in the door jamb harness boot breaks. I would check there
