In 1989, I believe 4-cylinder automatic Mustangs came with Ford's A4LD transmission, and manuals came with Borg Warner's TREMEC T-5. Good luck, Redwingiceman!

Hey Redwing! In all 1989 models equipped with a 4 cylinder engine the 5-speed manual was standard equipment and and a 4-speed automatic was optional. Hope that helps!
