Chevelle 1971 ss
Did the 1971 Chevelle ss ever start with 136 vin code
136 is a Chevrolet Malibu Concourse station wagon, V8. So, NO.
I own a '71 SS-454 that was bought brand new in August of '71. The VIN starts with 1363
1 means Chevrolet 3 means it’s a Chevelle or Monte Carlo 6 means it has a V8. https://www.ss396.com/cars/decode-chevrolet-vin- code/
In the late sixties, Chevrolet got lax with their VINs. A Chevelle, Monte Carlo which is a stretch Chevelle, or an El Camino pick up (13), V8 (6), and two door hardtop (37) could be any car produced on the Chevelle platform. This includes the SS. But by 1971, the SS really wasn't anything special; it was no longer a specific model, but a multiple choice option package, and there were lots of combinations.. And it could be had with a mouse motor. The ONLY way to tell what this car actually is, is by the "build sheet" which wasn't supposed to remain with the car, but was to be returned to GM records. Only the details in that factory assembly instruction sheet will tell you what your car was optioned with. Most SSs I've seen recently are either fake or unverifiable.
