My 93 Camry wikll not start.

Asked by sharpdl Jun 13, 2015 at 11:02 PM about the 1993 Toyota Camry

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car has sat un-started for several months. When I try to start it, it just cranks. Sprayed starting fluid in air intake & nothing. Pulled a plug & do have spark.

I'm surprised the battery was not dead. Did you have to jump start it? I assume you are attempting to start her up with old gas in tank? Did you check to see if any "wild life" entered this vehicle and dined on any wiring harnesses?

I would also be doing a major tune up job on it. Go right through it. Plugs wires, air filter, fuel filter, cap, rotor, PCV. I would also get some throttle body cleaner and give the throttle body a good cleaning. Then try spraying some start fluid into it and see if she pops over.

Sounds like a plan. You might want to pull the engine dip stick. Feel and smell the oil. Make sure it is not contaminated with dirt and fuel. No sense in starting an engine with bad oil in it.
