Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 Toyota Avalon 3.0L V6 auto, the past
week I have noticed that the oil light would come
on but only when I apply heavy pressure to the
breaks, today a put 5L of shell motor oil (HX5) 15W
- 40, now the oil light is on constantly and tonight
the car stalled while I was driving. Can someone
please shed some light as to why this may be
happening?

the oil should be checked with the vehicle off and kept at the right level , too much can ruin the motor also , the light was probably a sensor or sending unit .

That oil is too heavy for that engine. It will not flow and in turn blow your engine. 5W-30 is what is called for in that engine. I would run full synthetic since it flows better than conventional
