i think you should go for it, audi's are very reliable cars. but if you want a car that will still be good after 500,000 miles get a mercedes benz (older diesel model, if you want it at a low price)

I have a 2002 1.8t avant se with 194000. An amazing car a pleasure to drive a delight to travel in and still quite attractive considering how old the styling is. With full service history I would thoroughly recommend the 1.8t.
