can static electricity set off an airbag?

Asked by Joshua Apr 03, 2010 at 08:31 PM about the 1996 Pontiac Grand Am

Question type: General

I have this unused airbag and steering wheel off of a 1996 pontiac grand am and I was wondering if static
electricity could set it off? I collect steering wheels and I use them for something cool I built out of body pillows
(the picture does not show the steering wheel I am talking about). I am wondering because I am afraid of it going
off and my mom won't let me have it in the house and wikipedia is no help so I need your help.

Like I said above, this picture doesn't show the steering wheel I am talking about because the picture is old.

Thanx sooooooooo much and have a great weekend
