Is it by chance pushed up parked against a curb, pushing on a tire? If so, that pressure must be relieved then wiggle steering wheel and turn key

Im thinking maybe I need to replace the lock cylinder or ignition switch

It's more likely an electrical problem at the base of the steering column. the wiring there can break down and cause that sort of problems. Unless you're knowledgeable about automotive electrical you probably need a shop to figure this one out for you.
