Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So yesterday i was at a store and my car ran out of gas so i drove it into a parking lot
and parked it and walked to go get gas. Put about half a tank in the car and then i tried
to drive it home and it wasnt driving right. Everytime i pressed the gas it went to 3
rpms before it moved. Then i tried to put it in reverse and it went forward. I tried put it
in neutral and it went forward, my friend had to pushed it out of the parking lot with it
turned off. Then we tried to drive it home and it wouldnt go more than 20 mph. I dont
need to know how to fix it i jst want to know whats wrong with it.

If it's an automatic check transmission fluid level but going by what you are saying put in reverse and went forward sounds like a transmission problem.
