Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my Nissan maxima where to even start I just put a new starter in it today.. well the engine light is still on... my radio always works but, the light comes on half of the time.. when I unlock my car sometimes the windows comes down.. and then just putting the new starter in I am kinda upset cause when I park in my drive way it sounds like its not gonna turn over, it don't take very long when I press the gas but, I just put the new starter in it?? I mean is it because I am on a hill? my gas is almost all the way full, I love my Nissan, I just don't want to constantly be having to fix it up all the time.

need a battery for start... might not be charging but you can check alternator after the new battery.... also I don't think a bad starter will kick a engine light so after the battery have it scanned at like a autozone for free and post it here and im sure someone here will chim in and help out. hth

could be your MAF sensor or camshaft sensor. Had problems with my car before I replaced them. Please do get it scanned, good luck

I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima and I put a new starter in a month ago it cranks I push on the gas and it starts and other days it starts perfect

Gurux6QG4 I wish I knew the answer to your question . My 97 maxima starts rough now. Some times I have to push on the gas pedal to start it. Sometimes it fires up perfect. Mine started doing this after changing the front crank sensor. I'm not sure it acts like its out of time. The starter kicks back . I've got brand new starter and battery. I'm thinking maybe putting a OEM crank sensor back in. Maybe it's a cold start valve /idle air control motor. I'm not sure the correct name of the part that controls cold starts/ start ups. Any help would be appreciated. Today I'm changing the alternator and a/c pump. I watched a video where some one put a shorter belt to bypass the a/c pump. So I did the same and my alternator burned up after a few times driving it . So I'm putting it back how it's suppose to be
