i am losing oil but it is not leaking out of the car,where would it be going?

Out the tailpipe, which you will never see unless the engine is toast. Cause? Worn engine, mainly due to lack of oil changes, or too much mileage (over 250k). If you are lucky, maybe the intake valve seals are bad (cracked) and can be replaced -- but if they are bad, the other seals are soon to follow. Add some engine rebuild in a bottle? Go ahead if you want to waste your money. You want better news? sorry.
