PROBLEMS WITH COOLING WATER LEAK, I DONT NOW WHERE !

GOOD DAY, GUYS.

HAVE A PROBLEMS WITH MY LOVED ECLIPSE 1992, WITH DOHC ( 2,0 LITER )
ENGINE.

HE CAR RUNNING GOOD, EXEPT EXHAUST PROBLEMS.
NOW SUDDENLY, THE ENGINE START TO LEAK COOLING WATER.

CANNOT SE WHERE IT LEAK, BUT I HAVE TO FILL ONE OR TWO LITER AFTER
DRIVE 2 KM ONLY.
CANNOT USEE THE CAR NOW, UNTIL I FIND OUT WHAT ARE THE PROBLEMS.

CANNOT SE ANY CHANGING IN THE OIL LEVEL, AND NOT SE ANY WATER IN
THE ENGINE OIL.
IF I FILL UP WITH WATER, AND START AND RUN THE ENGINE HOT, I CAN PRESS
THE WATER HOSE, THAN HERE SAME " PSST " NOICE, BELOW THE UPPER
TRANSMISSION COVER.
BUT CANNOT SE ANY WATER COME ANYWHERE.
THIS RUNS ME CRAZY !
SCARE THE ENGINE GOES BROKEN OR EVEN TOTALLT COLLAPSE.

PLEASE HELP !

A HELL OF WORKS TO REMOVE THE WATER PUMP, TO REPLACE TEH PUMP
AND GASKET, WITHOUT TO BE SURE.

you must inspect the engine carefully to see where it's wet- use a flashlight and a little mirror- especially look under the engine- and around the water pump- the wet spots should tell you- run the engine and look under the engine and under the hood- nothing on the ground? nothing on the carpet inside under the dash? have you had recent work done on the cooling system, hoses disconnected, etc.? It's not magic- that water/coolant is goin' somewhere- you say there is no water in the engine oil- is there any oil in the water/radiator?

If water resivoir is needing to be filled regularly but you do not see any wet spots on engine or ground below it the leak could be evaporating off before it has a chance to drip. With engine cool do a pressure test on cooling system. This will cause it to leak and with engine cool it will not evaporate off. With age of your car I would suspect water pump if it hasn't been change in around 80000 miles. Remove belts and plastic guards off front of engine before doing pressure test. Inspect weep hole on water pump. If there are signs of dried coolant or if weep hole leaks when you do pressure test replace water pump. Inspect all radiator/heater hoses too. Other than the loss of water is it running ok? No white smoke out the exhaust? No missing?

Thank,s guys ! The pressure test make the result ! Find out the water pump, as booth of you say. Will replace this but understand it,s a great job to do. Thank,s a lot for all assistance. Hans and Preeda

It's not all that hard. Just need to take your time. And be sure to get all your timing marks lined up. I would suggest replacing the timing belts and pullies also while you are in there. That is if you not sure when they were last replaced. I say belts because I believe yours might have two belts.
