Highlander hybrid inaccurate gas guage

i took my highlander to the Toyota dealer and they did a scan and a reboot which did not solve the problem. They then replaced the dash display after Toyota installed the mileage to the old reading. The fuel guage light still comes on when the tank gets close to the empty mark, but there is still a lot of fuel in the tank. The display said 61km. to empty and when I filled it up I was only able to put 43 liters of gas in to a tank that is rated at 65 liters in my manual. SO there is lots of gas in the tank when the light comes on.

You have a problem and the car's less than two years old. You need to get angry about this and show that anger to the dealer. I've never heard of anything like this, so I can't direct you, except to say that it seems that it's more likely a fault in the fuel pump or a relay to or in it..... If you can't get the dealer's attention, ask to talk to a Toyota corporate person. There are area reps who visit dealers. Or contact Toyota corporate customer service.

Thank you. I believe Toyota knows the problem exists because I have seen reports of the Hybrid RAV4 having the same problem. I guess they haven't come up with the answer yet. there is only 39000 km. on the odometer.
