Where is the electronic eye that senses daylight for the automatic headlight function located? Thx

Every car I have ever seen with that feature it is on the dashboard deck near the windshield, it looks like a little glass lens, which is what it is. Or possibly on the front, or windshield side of the rear view mirror I know one model that has it there

I've seen them mounted on the defroster vent. It looks like an LED.
