Headlight module recall

Asked by ChrisB1 May 19, 2014 at 08:31 AM about the 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The recall came at just the right time for me. Our local dealer did the work but now I have
another problem. For all the years I've had this car when I turned on the windshield wipers
in 15 to 30 seconds my headlight would come on. Since the module replacement this
does not happen. Is it a fluke that the lights came on automatically for 11 years?
Thanks

Page 53 of my handbook clearly says "The headlamps will also turn on when the windshield wipers are activated, after a 10-20 second delay".What makes sense to me is that there could be more than 1 headlight module. One for models that have the above "windshield wiper" feature and a different one for models that don't have this feature. I feel it's likely that the recall replacement module is generic & does not have whatever is needed to make this feature work. I would love to know if this is the case.

That is the way I would think it is. Also would you please forward the link or phone number for the headlight replacement module place I have misplaced mine and I have the same problem
