2016 Hyundai Tuscon Eco Acceleration noise

Asked by GuruHKKQX Jul 29, 2019 at 08:55 AM about the 2016 Hyundai Tucson

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car sometimes makes this alarming
sound, like a zip tie being pulled, when I
accelerate from a slow speed or a stop. It
has happened 5 times in the past couple of
weeks and I’m at 53,000 miles. It’s alarming -
when my husband was driving and it
happened he was ready to pull the car over
because he thought it was tearing up the
motor.

I just bought a used 2016 Tucson and noticed the same happening with mine. the mileage is at 32K miles. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I kept a log of when the noise happened and in what driving conditions to share with the dealership. I also kept my phone video on recording mode when I drove and was able to capture the noise in a video. The problem got so bad that my car would stop moving when I tried to accelerate from a stop leaving me sitting in the road with oncoming traffic as I pulled out. The dealership replaced my transmission after I provided the above evidence.
