starting a forester 2015

Asked by GuruGCC78 Aug 21, 2020 at 09:10 AM about the 2015 Subaru Forester

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After replacing the battery the "check engine" light is on.  When I try to crank over the engine, it takes three seconds of holding the key in the ignition position before the engine starts to crank over.  Why?  a sensor?

yes, a sensor is detecting an issue. So with the light on, that means there are trouble codes stored in the system.. Scan for the codes to point you in the direction of the issue. an auto parts store can do this for free.
