Check your owner's manual or talk to your local Ford
Dealer. You might be able to just disconnect the
negative battery cable for the 8 weeks and it'll be
fine. However, some newer vehicles require the
computers have power at all times. If not they need
to be reprogrammed. If that's the case you want a
battery tender or battery maintainer that will
automatically switch on and off as needed over the
8 week period. A trickle charger that's constantly
changing the battery will ruin the battery by
overcharging it. Plus you could have a safety issue.
Batteries that are overcharged emit hydrogen gas
that's explosive under the right conditions! So a
battery tender is the way to go. You can hook up
your battery tender, if needed, directly to the battery.
