Rusty Jeep Bottom

Asked by bentleylacasse May 19, 2010 at 10:09 AM about the 2001 Jeep Wrangler

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I'm looking to buy a 2001 Wrangler with 95,000 miles on it, but would like to make sure that I can have it for at least a few years.  I noticed some rust on the bottom as it has been sitting for about 9 months in the Boston area.  Does this look like normal rust or does anyone think this won't make it through a couple of years?  I'd love anyone's opinion!!!!

Thanks!!

well its kinda hard to tell from a picture but it looks to be just surface rust to me. a little sanding and recoating wouldnt hurt it tho. a good easy way to tell if the rust is bad, is it swelling and separating? and is the metal brittle. bang on it once or twice. and if chunks fall off, id say no go
