How long can I listen to radio without draining the battery

Asked by James_Newton35 Aug 09, 2020 at 08:43 AM about the 2014 Ford Fiesta

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi,

I have a 2014 Ford Fiesta 1.0L Ecoboost and
whenever I’m listening to the radio without the
engine running it operates in “1 hour mode”. Does
this mean I can only listen to the radio for one hour
before the battery becomes flat?

Also, If I wanted to do this for more than an hour
how long would I have to idle the engine for so I
can then go back to the “1 hour mode”?

Thanks

the one hour mode is to prevent you from leaving it on all weekend because you forgot it was on. turning the key of then on again should reset the mode. as for as how long you can listen to the radio before the battery dies is a factor of the size and type battery that is installed in the car. A700 amp battery will play the radio a lot longer and still start the car than a350 amp. look for the reserve rating on the battery.

You might want to invest in a portable stereo system.
