I took my car a 1013 Traverse to Walmart for an oil change where they had a special for $19.88. They said I had to use synthetic oil. I’ve never used synthetic oil. Not saying I wouldn’t but $19.88 compared to $45.00. I will. According to them they’re not allowed to put regular oil in anything 2013 or newer. Never heard of this. What say y’all?

Use only engine oil licensed to the dexos1 specfication, or equivalent, of the proper SAE viscosity grade. ACDelco dexos1 Synthetic Blend is recommended. 5W30 but if 20 below is the normal outside temperature, 0W30 may used in the winter for easier cold starts.

I've never had a problem starting my 2013 impala and I live in Michigan where winters get to 40 below. I've always had 5w30 dexos1 full synthetic in it. Just make sure you let it warm up if it's cold.

Wow. Some of your answers are ridiculous. I own a car and would like to know the answer to the original question so I can go to a shop and NOT get ripped off because I am female and have no clue about this particular thing.
