Need help/advice? Thanks

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I'm asking for someone who has a
1996 Ford Thunderbird. Their check
connections light comes on
sometimes. They have checked their
car battery connections, made sure
they had enough gas, they also
checked to make sure their antifreeze &
windshield wiper fluid is full. What
could be causing the check
connections light to come on? Thanks

I've never heard of that light before but I'd assume it is related to the alternator or battery. Since you already checked the battery cables, at both ends I presume, check the connections at the alternator. Make sure everything is clean and tight. No corrosion, etc. Also, check the underhood fuse box, if equipped, for signs of corrosion, moisture, or excessive dust and or dirt. Hope that helps! Jim
Has the battery been load tested? Are all the fuses good especially the mains?
Ask your friend again about the light. There is no CHECK CONNECTIONS LIGHT. There is a check charging systems light that looks like a battery and a check engine light that looks like an engine block... If it's the charging system light, which I would expect, it could refer to the alternator going out or a voltage regulator problem... Better yet, get that person to ask the question for himself.
